Recipe: Chai Tea Tiramisu
10 September 2005, 7:02 PM

So many recipes call for coffee or hard liquor in Tiramisu. Not being a fan of either, I wondered if some other kind of flavorful liquid might work. I love tea, so I decided to try that. I loved it. And after hearty approvals from my husband and my in-laws I think it's good enough to share:

Chai Tea Tiramisu

4 tablespoons Tiger Spice Chai mix, divided
7 ounces hot water
1/4 cup marscapone cheese
4 ounces nuefatel cheese (or substitute cream cheese)
1/8 cup sugar
2 tablespoons brown sugar
24 lady fingers
Cinnamon

Add 7 ounces of water to two tablespoons of the chai powder. Stir, then chill until cooled. Cream marscapone, neufatel, sugar and one tablespoon of the chai powder with 2 tablespoons of the cooled chai mix. Blend until smooth, Set aside.

Dip 12 lady fingers into the cooled chai mix, one at a time, placing them in a glass baking dish, covering the bottom. Spread half of the cheese mixture on top. Add another layer of dipped lady fingers. Top with other half of cheese mixture. Sprinkle top liberally with cinnamon. Chill 2 hours before serving.

Serves 6.
