Desert Island Meme
7 June 2003, 11:45 PM

From Jenn X:

You're stranded on a Desert Island, which amazingly enough has power, a television, and a DVD player (which can also play CDs).

  1. Which ocean are you in the middle of?
I think the Pacific has to be the nicest for comfortable strandings. :-)

  2. You're allowed one companion. Who is it?
Well, Jeff of course. Can we have unlimited non-human companions?

  3. What three movies would you have with you?
Erf. I don't really have long-standing movie favorites actually. I'll love one at the moment, then fall in love with something else I've seen. I guess I'd pick one comedy, one romance and something science fiction for different moods. I think the romance one would be "Roman Holiday", the comedy would be "Animals are People Too", and the science fiction one would be... Ooh. That's a hard one. It's a toss-up between "Men In Black" (fun) and "AI" which really made me think about all kinds of stuff.

  4. What three books would you have with you?
A Dictionary. One of those big-honking-fat-assed dictionaries that you need a forklift to move. That way I could look up new words everyday. :-) "Finn Family Moomintroll" would be another one. And a seafood cookbook. :-) :-)

  5. Three music CDs you'd have?
The disc of music we burned for our wedding reception. Davol's "Nature of the Beast". And probably something by Capercaille.

  6. You have a neverending supply of one meal and what beverage. What are they?
Milk for the beverage. The meal? Rosemary deglazed chicken breasts with sauteed mushrooms over rice pilaf, and steamed artichokes with butter dipping sauce. And strawberry shortcake for dessert. :-)

Happy Cat
7 June 2003, 11:21 PM

We have achieved Happy Cat here at chez Snider/Rizvi. Mysty is now into lounging on the stairs, lounging upstairs, lounging under the breakfast table and lounging on the bed. She's also had moments of "cute kitty" (lying on her back with her paws in the air) upstairs as well as "crazy kitty" episode (race up the stairs, tear across the room, claw briefly at the sofa and then look normal). So far she only parks herself under the bed if we're actually gone from the house, and she comes out immediately. I think it'll only be a few more days before she's greeting us at the window when we come up the driveway.

Tomorrow I finish painting the dining room and we install the lighting and window blinds in there. Then the protective plastic can come up off the floor, I can move the furniture in there and start unpacking the ton of boxes in what will eventually be the exercise room. Half those boxes are books or my fancier dishes, so ones the dining room buffets and living room bookcases are filled, we'll be half unpacked!

We celebrated our one month anniversary with some "sloppy nachos", brownies and a break from studying or unpacking. We finally watched the movie, "My Big Fat Greek Wedding". It's even MORE funny to see that AFTER our wedding. Especially when the Dad mumbles something about getting a non-Greek with long hair for a son. :-) :-) :-)
